More and more the issue of animal rights is brought before us in the conscientous world of today. Lots of people seem to agree that eating meat is wrong, and yet very few seem able to not eat it of their own will.
Are you a vegetarian? If so, why? If not, why? What are your opinions on the issues of eating meat, wearing fur, etc? What do you feel is more appropriate: drastic and shocking tactics such as those used by PETA (things like handing out pamphlets about how their fur-wearing mothers are murderers and animal-killers to young children have gotten PETA much attention in recent times, although most of it isn't positive), or just waiting for people to decide themselves whether or not they want to eat meat and wear fur?
POoks, co-mod of doom.

I am not a vegetarian because I like the taste of meat. Humans are omnivorous and I don't think we should take away part of our diet just because we don't want to be mean to animals. Having said that I don't like the mistreatment of animals such as battery hens and only eat free range eggs.
I don't see many PETA advertisments so I won't say anything about that. Though I think people should be able to make up their own mind whether they want to eat meat or not.
I HATE cruelty to animals, I believe they have just as much, if not more rights then humans. But no I'm not a vegitarian, I don't eat much meat, sometimes I won't eat it for weeks, but I don't think I could ever give it up completely. fur wearing is also something that does not appeal to me at all. Just think how many races of animals we have completely wiped out forever. I Don't think that shock tactics work all that well, they do reach a few people, but not nearly enough, I mean we have so many adds and news reports of starving children that I believe much of society has just become numb to it. I don't think that people spend much time thinking on cruelty towards animals, and would just rather follow blindly, pretending that nothing is happening, but I don't think that we could really force anyone to change that part of them either. The only thing that may highlight peoples views of animal cruelty is if we get a taste of our own medicene, but then there are people who don't deserve that and is that going to far?
I do think that something has to be done about animal cruelty though. Humans are much like cockroaches really, possibly even worse.
